Eau Claire Site – Aging & Veterans Focus

Site coordinator: Susan Wurzer
6 students

In Wisconsin, approximately 16% of the population are age 65 years or older (US Census 2016) and about half of all veterans are 65+. This site will focus on caring for an elderly population, many of whom are veterans, have mental health disorders, or have chronic diseases. Students will visit hospitals/clinics, public health departments, aging and disability resource centers, nursing homes, and mental health/rehabilitation facilities. Students will also learn that as the population ages many health care providers are also retiring so there is an ever-growing need for health care professionals in rural and underserved areas.

Students will be offered enrollment after the application deadline.
